Mission Statement
Encompass Australasia promotes the health and wellbeing of people in the helping ministries and professions within the Pacific Rim and abroad. To accomplish this task, we facilitate psychological wellbeing through assessment, treatment, and on-going care services. We offer educational and renewal programs and conduct research. In these services, we strive to integrate the highest quality of professional expertise within an environment that provides safe, private and respectful services. We offer the expertise gained in this mission to other clients more broadly in society.

Vision Statement
We recognize the particular strain placed on those in helping ministries and professions. We believe that helping professionals are vulnerable in their service delivery if they are not attending to their own wellbeing. There is a saying that “you can’t give away what you haven’t got yourself”. Helping professionals need to be nurtured and cared for if they are to responsibly care for others. It is our vision that our services will support and enrich helping professionals.

This vision calls us to:

  • Assess, facilitate and provide ongoing support and supervision to helping professionals with a broad range of difficulties in work or life more generally.
  • Provide intensive educational opportunities that resource and promote self care and safe limits for helping professionals.
  • Develop sabbatical opportunities to deepen and develop their own self and to facilitate the actualisation of their potential.
  • Conduct comprehensive research in the areas of the psychological wellbeing of helping professionals.
  • Conduct comprehensive research in a specialist track of sexuality.
  • Write and present research and theory based papers at national and international conferences.
  • Make our resources broadly available through website and newletters.
  • Continue to offer particular expertise in the specialist stream of professional sexual boundary violation through treatment, prevention, and theory development.
  • By each of these actions, to continue to affirm the contribution members of the helping professions make to society and promote beneficence and non-malfeasance in their service delivery.

Core values
Our mission and Vision are inspired by our core values. Our standards of practice are based on the Code of Ethics of the Australian Psychological Society. As an independent company established by the Australian Catholic Church for the good of society, its conduct as a public company and its principles of service delivery are guided by the Church’s commitment to social welfare. Thus our core values have their origin in 2 complementary value systems. Our core values are:

Responsibility - Competence - Propriety
(as articulated by the Australian Psychological Society)

and

the Dignity of the Human Person & Preference for the poor and under serviced
(access, equity and compassion)
As articulated by Catholic Health Australia
